Being a member in Tug's Boat Club is not only fun, but affordable too! And, it's much simpler, easier and cheaper than owning your own boat.
The costs of boat ownership can include slip fees, regular maintenance (and unexpected maintenance, too!), insurance, and fuel. Boat owners also have to manage repairs, and time spent on the boat is divided between maintenance and being on the water. By joining Tug's Boat Club, you can enjoy all the benefits of owning a boat without the hassle.
Frequently Asked Questions
I have never driven a boat before. Do you provide training?
San Francisco Bay can have some challenging conditions - between strong wind patterns, tides and currents, and traffic, it's important that you feel confident on the water. Your membership dues include two, 2-hour training sessions. In order to prepare for training sessions, we ask that you obtain your California Boater Card. This online training course, sponsored by the Department of Boating and Waterways, will help give you a foundation.
There may be situations where you need additional training, beyond the two sessions. If this is the case, we will work with you to set up an individualized training plan. Depending on your plan, there may be additional fees associated with the additional training.
Where is Tugs located?
Tugs is docked at South Beach Harbor, right next to McCovey Cove and the Giants Stadium. This location makes it easy to cruise the San Francisco waterfront, motor over to Jack London Square, or tailgate before a Giants Game in McCovey Cove.
How Many Members are on Tugs?
In order to ensure that each member has access to their guaranteed 4 bookings, membership on Tugs is limited to 10 people.
Are there any additional fees, like maintenance, slip rental or insurance?
No. All you pay is your monthly dues, book your time on the calendar, and show up!
Do I have to pay for fuel?
No. Our full-time staff ensures the boat is fueled up and ready for your time on the water. You don't have to take Tugs to a fuel dock, nor do you have to worry about additional hidden fees.
What are the different types of booking?
The day is broken up into two booking time slots: Morning (9am-1pm) and Afternoon (2pm - 6pm).
